I am first and foremost a learner.  In my work and away from my work I constantly seek out new knowledge and ideas that I can apply to my work and my life. My blog is a way for me to extend my learning through reflection, and I hope that others will join me on this journey so that we can learn and grow together!

This will be my third year as principal of Adams Spanish Immersion School in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  I started my career as a pre-first grade teacher in Durango, Mexico 30 years ago in the Colegio Americano de Durango.  When I returned to Minnesota after 5 years in Mexico, I worked as a teacher and curriculum specialist at Adams Spanish Immersion School, Minnesota’s first language immersion school.  After that, I moved to the district’s ELL department, where I eventually had the privilege of working as director of ELL programs for the district’s 18,000 ELL students and their families.  Several years ago I returned to Adams, and I am loving every minute of my life as principal of this great school!  It is so very rewarding to work with the students and their families every day, and to work with such wonderful, committed staff.

I joined Twitter this past year, and began a new PD journey with an ever-growing PLN from around the world.  As a leader in the 21st century, I know I need to be modeling the work I want my staff to engage in. This blog is one of the ways I am engaging in this work, and I hope others will benefit from my example.  I know I have much to learn, but I’m ready… Join me!
